Bubbly means either Champagne or Sparkling wine. When grapes ferment, carbon dioxide is given off. In 1531, the St. Hilaire monks in the southern France discovered a way of trapping this gas so that it dissolved back into the wine. So when the cork was taken out it went pop ! with the release of the gas.
This was the start of sparkling wines . So we have the monks to thank for much fun & multitudinous hangovers over the years! Sparkling wines from the Champagne area became so popular that the French copyrighted the name & now only the Champagne district in France is allowed to call its wines Champagne. Champagne is one of the strongest brand names in the world so buy her a magnum of Champagne this Valentines Day !
Many people call sparkling wines Champagne but the term Bubbly means anything alcoholic that has bubbles so lift her spirits on Valentines Day with a bottle of bubbly.
